Long Island City Artists
Long Island City, New York is known for a large artistic community. There are lots of studio lofts and art institutions where artists reside, work and exhibit artworks. I was naturally introduced to this artistic neighborhood while studying at CUNY LAGCC, which also located in Long Island City. As a portrait photographer, meeting local artists and taking their portraits became my first body of work. This portrait series pictures local artists based in Long Island City and their works along with their working/living environment in a single photograph. Each portrait is inspired by artist’s personality and artworks.
